Using Stripes In Your Home Decor

Stripes are on trend this Spring/Summer 2022 and in a variety of different forms. From walls to floors, accessories and even ceilings! It is amazing just how much stripes can visually transform a room, stretching the appearance of walls either vertically or horizontally depending on the direction in which you apply them. Vertical stripes give the feeling of extra height, while horizontal stripes can help elongate a room.

Stripes are a great way to add personality to your home, and depending on the colour, they can evoke a range of emotions. If you opt for black and white stripes, this gives an heir of class, whereas rainbow stripes (or even lots of yellow) will give the impression of fun and playfulness. So why are we telling you all of this? Well, adding stripey accessories to your home can really help to brighten the place up and it can be done very easily. Here are a few ways you can use stripes in your home decor:

1. Ceramic accessories - think lamps, vases, bowls and even cute little jewellery holders. Accessories are a great way to add some stripes to your home decor without going too crazy. A good way to test the design out!

2. Bins & storage - woven baskets are a great way to add subtle stripes to your home. Storage containers can also look quite funky if they have stripes, and can transform a dull workstation into something more stylish.

3. Pillows & cushions - these are often the first decoration we opt for when looking to improve our decor, but did you know that the width of the stripes really matter? A thin stripe is more subtle and mixes well with other stripes, but a thicker stripe can make more of a statement.

4. Rugs - again, a classic and simple way to add stripes to your home. They just never seem to go out of fashion, and if you choose more neutral colours then your rug will work well in any room.

5. Nature-inspired - stripes can be woven into animal or plant patterns, for example a rug that has zebra stripes or the shell of a snail. Our stunning doorstops are also a great way to introduce stripes, this zebra does just the trick.

6. Pottery & glass - sometimes having accessories with small, very pale stripes on them can be so subtle they almost aren’t visible. They will still have an impact on the room though, complementing the decor. A ridged vase, for example, is a different type of stripe (as it focuses more on texture), but can still add to the overall stripe design.
