How To Style Your Outdoor Space

After spending some time outside last week enjoying the mini-heatwave, it got us thinking about how to style our outdoor space. Whether you have a summerhouse, conservatory, or are lucky enough to have a poolside area in your back garden, here are a few ways you can spruce up your outdoor space.

The first thing you need to decide is how you will be using your outdoor space. Is it somewhere you want to sit quietly with a book, or is alfresco dining more your thing? If you have lots of space then you could even create several different areas for relaxing, entertaining and sunbathing!

1. Consider outdoor lighting

There are so many different types of lanterns and outdoor lights that you can hang around your garden, you will probably be spoilt for choice! Don’t forget there are more subtle options available too though - tea lights and candles are a great way to add a little cosiness to an outdoor space. Solar stakes are great ambient lights, particularly if you have lots of trees or shrubs as they light these up really well.

2. Bring your soft furnishings out

Make your patio area an extension of your indoor interiors by adding some accessories that match your interior decor. If you have a patchwork theme inside, placing our Mallard Patchwork Doorstop on your decking will really bring this together.

You could easily mix up patterned and plain fabrics, and throw a few cushions in for extra decoration. They are a great way to add some colour whilst being a comfy addition to an outdoor seating space too.

3. Think about seating arrangements

Now is the time to invest in new garden furniture, particularly with the temperatures staying as high as they have been. Luxurious rattan style furniture is the trend this year, but if you are looking for a more comfortable option then bean bags are a great way to add decoration as well as seating for outdoor parties. You really need to decide how much space you want to use for entertainment and relaxing, that way you will be able to carefully position the furniture within your outdoor area.

4. Add style with colourful textiles

There are so many different accessories you can add to your outdoor space to continue your interior colour schemes outdoors. From table mats to napkins and cushions, you could even decorate your outdoor dining area with our stunning paperweights to stop the wind flipping over your crockery!
